Racing in Ramsgate
Sailing in Ramsgate

Situated at the Royal Harbour in Ramsgate at the extreme South East of England, the Royal Temple Yacht Club is the ideal base for the keen cruiser or dedicated racer.

Regatta and Championship Venue

We are host to Ramsgate Week which is the fastest growing IRC regatta in the UK and were chosen as the venue for the X-99 National and World Championships in 2000. Ramsgate is an ideal loaction for IRC and keelboat championships.

Perfect Position

No other Club is more perfectly positioned to enjoy the pleasures of continental cruising and many of our members regularly make the short crossing to the marinas and harbours on the French, Belgian and Dutch coasts, as well other venues further afield.

Great Racing

Our competitive racing fleet enjoys a full programme of racing from March through to October with races held virtually every week-end, as well as a series held mid-week through June, July and August. Added to this are a range of events held in conjunction with our sister Clubs on the East Coast as well as those in Boulogne, Gravelines and Dunkirk in France.

Excellent Racing Water

Racing takes place in the sheltered waters of the Downs in the lee of the South Foreland, where the large number of navigational buoys provide an ideal basis for a wide variety of challenging and interesting courses. The natural features of the local coastline provide excellent racing for all types of yacht from Sportsboats to cruiser/racers.

Excellent Road Links

The completion of major new dual carriageway road links to East Kent means that the Royal Temple Yacht Club is now more accessible than ever, being just over an hour’s drive from South London.

So if you are looking to put more spice and enjoyment into your sailing why don’t you come and join us!
