Q? When is Ramsgate Week?
A. 11th to 16th August 2008 the first three days Monday to Wednesday will see coastal races with Wednesday being the Round the Goodwins classic race. The IRC East Coast Championships start on Thursday 14th and run through to Saturday 16th. The SailEAST Regatta is combined with the IRC Championships and runs from 14th to 16th August.
Q? What type of boats are raced in Ramsgate Week?
A. We organise racing for 4 IRC classes and a Gentlemen's class with no spinnakers (No IRC certificate required we can give you a local handicap if required) and Sportsboats of all classes will race together under SBR.
Q? What type of racing can we expect?
A. We have two start lines one from a committee boat and one from the club line just off the harbour wall. All IRC classes will have a mixture of both round the cans and Windward Leeward style racing over special courses. The Gentlemans class will start all week from the club line and be set a range of flexible and some challenging courses throughout the week.
Q? Are there opportunities for crews to come and join in?
A. We usually find that people are looking for crew members throughout the regatta. It would be unusual for a budding willing crew member not to get a sail - usually there are not enough people looking to go out for the day.
Q? Can spectators see any of the action?
A. Ramsgate has a harbour wall that allows spectators to come and watch the racing. There are local boats that will take people on the water to have a closer look but everyone is welcome to come and take part in the social side of the regatta. This year we are planning for local business to have stalls and to create a village style atmosphere for everyone to join in with the spirit of the regatta.

Q? How does the discount on berthing work?
A. For all full week entries that is Monday to Saturday the Harbour will refund 25% of the mooring charges. This takes place at the harbour office at the time the mooring fees are paid. Look out for the early bird entry option as this will save you 50% on mooring fees for the week - note this only applies to full week entries received in advance of the closing date for early bird entries.
Q? Is there any provision for evening meals at the Yacht Club?
A. Yes every evening except for the evening of the competitors supper the club caterers are running a sit down carvery. This has always been viewed as a very good value and quality dinner so its best not to leave it to the last minute to arrive.
Q? What facilities are there for car parking in Ramsgate?
A. Car parking is free inside the harbour compound. Outside of the compound you must have a ticket, the area has an independent clamping company so please make sure you park in the right area.
Q? Where will the results be posted?
A. The results are posted on the official notice board and within minutes on the web site www.rtyc.com
Q? Do I need to book a berth in the harbour in advance of arriving in Ramsgate?
A. For peace of mind then yes you need to call the harbour office +44 1843 572100 and ask them to book you in. If you have not booked in advance there will not be a problem there is capacity for 800 berths in Ramsgate and unless you draw in excess of 2m you will not have any trouble in finding a berth.
