2011London Array are announced as main sponsors of Ramsgate Week Wind farm company, London Array have been announced as main sponsors of Ramsgate Week. Ramsgate Week, hosted by Royal Temple Yacht Club, is one of the major sailing events on the East Coast. It is an international regatta attracting sailors from the UK, France, Holland and Belgium. The sponsorship deal allows Ramsgate Week to continue to develop this popular regatta, which will take place from 25th – 30th July 2011 and this year will be host the East Coast IRC Regional Championship. Thomas Bonnichsen, London Array’s Construction Manager added “Ramsgate is the home base for the construction, operations and maintenance of the wind farm and it gives us great pleasure to support this popular and family friendly event, which attracts people to Ramsgate from far and wide each year.” - END -
Notes to editors: About Royal Temple Yacht Club: The Royal Temple Yacht Club, originally founded in 1857, is managed by a committee with membership exceeding 700. RTYC has a very active IRC yacht racing and cruising section. The clubhouse provides excellent facilities for both members and visitors and is widely used for parties, conferencing and functions. About London Array: London Array is being built around 20km off the coasts of Kent and Essex. The wind farm will be installed on a 245km2 site and will be built in two phases. Phase One will cover 90km2 and include 175 turbines with a combined capacity of 630MW. The consortium plans to complete the first phase by the end of 2012. If approved, the second phase will add enough capacity to bring the total to 1,000MW. The project consortium partners have the following shareholdings: DONG Energy owns 50%, E.ON has 30% and Masdar has a 20% stake. |
