RTYC Navigation School on-line courses:

RYA Interactive Online Essential Navigation and Seamanship Course

£130 which includes

·        RYA course pack including paper charts,

·        a portland plotter,

·        the RYA electronic chart plotter and a course hand book

·        support from an RYA Instructor in case you get stuck

The RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship course on-line is a basic introduction to navigation and seamanship.

Course topics include:

·    charts and publications

·    safety

·    engine checks

·    buoyage

·    tidal awareness

·    visual and electronic navigation

·    pilotage

·    rules of the road

·    anchoring

·    weather forecasts

·    passage planning

The online format means you can learn anytime, anywhere - so long as you have access to the internet.

There are no assessments to take with this course, just on-line exercises. When you have successfully completed all of the topics we will send you a course completion certificate.

No previous experience is required and if you get stuck, help is available via the RYA Interactive's help system and from us by email.

RYA Interactive Online CEVNI Course

The CEVNI on-line test is a short multiple choice paper in two parts. Part 1 is about signs and buoyage and Part 2 is about sound signals, lights and shapes. Fifteen questions are asked in each part, and you must answer at least eleven questions correctly in each part to pass the whole test.

You can practise the test before taking it for real by going to the RYA Interactive site and clicking "Try the test". You can the practise test as many times as you like and your score won't be recorded.

When you feel ready to take the real test, please send a cheque made out to RTYC Navigation School for £30.00 and post to the RTYC Navigation School, 6 West Cliff Mansions, Ramsgate Kent CT11 9HY

On receipt of your payment  we will give you access to the online CEVNI test.

After you pass the on-line exam you can print off a certificate that can be used to apply to have your ICC endorsed for inland waterways (there is not a separate ICC for inland waterways).  

Simply send your CEVNI test confirmation, your existing ICC and a new passport photo to the RYA Certification Team at RYA House, Ensign Way, Hamble, Hants, SO31 4YA
