The Royal Temple Yacht Club is recruiting its annual intake of new students for our Sailing Academy.
Each year we have a small intake of keen students looking to be inspired with an on the water experience learning the art of yacht sailing, yacht racing and yacht cruising.
There is something for everyone and over the years we have several members who started their sailing in Ramsgate and have gone on to make a highly lucrative career out of sailing and are highly valued Captains on some of the worlds largest superyachts.
Sailing takes place with racing on Sundays between April and October each year. The Academy operates a social programme for its students throughout the year.
New students will be given safety training before they go on the water, then they will join a yacht as crew to be trained in the art of sailing.

This programme is aimed at young people who are expected to have minimal or no previous on water experience in our geographical area.
Royal Temple Yacht Club aims to provide activities on the water, classroom training along with individual mentoring. All of the programme activities are targeted at building experience and confidence for members to increase their knowledge and ability on the water.
The Academy programme
The academy provides young people with classroom training in the winter months and the opportunity to crew on members boats in the summer months. Academy members can expect to become proficient sailors and to gain all round experience in sailing.
Academy members
Academy members will have full use of the clubhouse until the age of 19. At the age of 19 Academy members will be encouraged to become Crew members of the Royal Temple Yacht Club. Social networking will be encouraged using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & TikTok to promote activities and membership of the Academy. As an Academy member you will be entitled to use any of the following facilities:
- Navigation courses – Day Skipper and Yacht master
- Full use of the club
- Mentoring programmes
- Crewing opportunities
