RYA Day Skipper Theory
An ideal introduction to coastal navigation, pilotage, tides, weather, safety and the essential skills needed for confident coastal cruising.
RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore Theory
For those ready to develop more advanced navigation and passage-planning skills.
The course builds on existing knowledge and covers the more demanding aspects of coastal and offshore navigation.

The current website advertises February 2027 Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory courses at £500 each, with a 10% member discount. These details should remain in a separately maintained course-booking section.
The Royal Temple Yacht Club holds Navigation Courses during the winter months. Our courses are run by professionals with many years of experience. The lecturers have, between them, sailed many sea miles including several ocean passages. Current courses include:
