The Course Fee – £330.00 includes All RYA Course Materials, Training Almanac, printing where necessary and Examination Fees.
RYA Day- Skipper – Tuesday Evenings 19.00 to 21.30
Course details: A comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced skippers. This course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.
Course topics include: The basics of seamanship, the essentials of coastal navigation and pilotage, chartwork, electronic charts, position fixing, plotting a course to steer, weather forecasting and meteorology, tides, collision regulations, construction, parts and equipment of a cruising boat, emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and life rafts.
There are two exam papers.
RYA Yacht Master – Wednesday Evenings 19.00 to 21.30
The Yacht Master Theory course is the next course on from the Day Skipper theory course. It goes into a lot more detail to that which is covered in the Day Skipper theory course.
The course is an advanced course in navigation techniques.
The syllabus makes some provision for the revision of subjects covered on the Day Skipper Course but those who have not acquired the knowledge set out in the Day Skipper Course are unlikely to be able to assimilate all the subjects covered in this advanced course in the time available.
